Parks Dinarides – Network of Protected Areas of Dinarides, in cooperation with Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument LLC and Malesia Adventure, is organizing an educational field trip for children to the protected area of Cijevna Canyon.
The field trip is intended for pupils of Đerđ Kastrioti Skenderbeg Primary School in Zatrijebač, a community located in the immediate vicinity of the protected area. Through outdoor activities, guided walks, and discussions with experts, the children will have the opportunity to learn more about the natural and cultural values of Cijevna Canyon, an area closely connected to their local community. Particular attention will be given to understanding what a protected area is, why Cijevna Canyon has been designated as a protected area, and how everyone can contribute to preserving its natural and cultural heritage.
Departure is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. from the school in Zatrijebač, with organized transportation provided for pupils and teachers to Cijevna Canyon. During the field trip, the children will walk along a section of the historic caravan route beside the Cijevna River and explore the canyon’s rich flora and fauna, with a particular focus on the mammals inhabiting this protected area. Through stories about the former caravan route, they will also discover the cultural heritage, traditions, and traditional way of life of the local communities.
Organized transportation and refreshments will be provided for all participants. The children will also receive T-shirts and educational brochures highlighting the most significant natural and cultural values of Cijevna Canyon.
The field trip is designed to give children from the local community an opportunity to experience and better understand the protected area in their immediate surroundings. By connecting directly with nature, they will gain a deeper appreciation of the importance of conservation and develop awareness of their own role in safeguarding the natural and cultural heritage of Cijevna Canyon.
