Parks Dinarides – Network of Protected Areas of Dinarides, in cooperation with the management authority of Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument, organized the first workshop for the development of the Management Plan for this protected area. The workshop was held at the premises of the Municipality of Tuzi.
The workshop brought together representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Environment of the Municipality of Tuzi, the Secretariat for Projects of the Municipality of Tuzi, and the Local Tourism Organization of Tuzi. Representatives of civil society organizations also participated, including the Montenegrin Ecologists Society, the Center for Protection and Research of Birds (CZIP), and the project partner Malesia Adventures. The workshop was also attended by representatives of local communities situated within or adjacent to Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument.

The first workshop focused on verifying and supplementing existing information on the natural values of the area, as well as defining a shared vision for the future management of the protected area.
This workshop forms part of a broader consultation process involving a total of three stakeholder workshops. The Management Plan is expected to be finalized by mid-October.
Activities aimed at supporting the protected area management authority are being implemented through the project “Contributing to More Effective Management of Cijevna Canyon Natural Monument – Phase II”, financially supported by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF).
